PoliticalGrrl Reclaims Lead

Will The Numbers Add Up For Mathy & Yugeness?

Da Bowz Has No Bite, But Garskas Looks Great

Baby Gracie Kicking For ÔCuse

PoliticalGrrl is proving as persistent as Donald Trump in staying atop the polls, as the upset win by Gonzaga assured her the #1 spot for yet another day. The Gonzaga win also buoyed BadgerHoopla, who had fallen during the day, back up to #2, just one point off the pace. HotRod sits in third, just five points back. All three are picking at a very impressive 80% clip.

GonzagaÕs role in deciding the top of the standings could be far from over. Two players, Mathy (Lauren McCall) and His Yugeness (Michael Theune), are the only two players with Gonzaga in the Final Four. They are also #1 and #2, respectively, in the projected standings.

A Gonzaga Final Four pick might have looked like a long shot three days ago, but with Michigan State out of the picture, it now looks prescient. Gonzaga will face the winner of SundayÕs Syracuse/Middle Tennessee game (a 10 and 15 seed), and if they win, they will move on to face the winner of Iowa St./Virginia.

Besides Gonzaga, Mathy will need a lot of other—shall we say, unlikely—scenarios to go her way. She has Wisconsin beating Iowa in the final, and the math on that does not look good.

His Yugeness also has some more upsets in his bracket, but he is one of just seven players with North Carolina winning it all—a very real possibility. The combination of a Gonzaga Final Four run and a North Carolina championship might be all he needs to claim the title.

Not everyone did well on Saturday. Da Bowz, who named herself after her French bulldog, was the biggest loser, falling 51 spots.

Her father, however, is looking very good. Great-Garskas is one of the seven players with North Carolina winning it all, and of the seven trails only His Yugeness in the projected standings. The impeccably coiffured engineer from Wheaton, Illinois moved up 25 spots Saturday, and his pick of Michigan State to the Elite 8 is his only red mark from that round onward.

Garskas has certainly caught the attention of Bucephalus, who is the third-ranked player in the projected standings with North Carolina. Bucephalus, a 16-year vet, truly feels this is his year, but he classified Garskas as a Òbig threatÓ to finally achieving his dream of a Chippens Tournament Challenge title.

SundayÕs matchups offer several opportunities for a small group of players to gain big points with upset Sweet 16 picks. The Syracuse/Middle Tennesee matchup, though, is unique in that only one player, Baby Gracie, has either team. A Syracuse win will provide much-needed points for the rookie, who is currently tied for 98th place.
